First District Association is currently seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The primary role of an Electrical Technician is to assist in the timely completion of predictive, preventive, and emergency control systems repair in a food production environment. The Electrical Technician will respond to unplanned breakdowns with a sense of urgency and demonstrate proficient troubleshooting techniques throughout all areas of First District Association while working in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This position also aids in new installations of electrical equipment and maintenance of existing plant equipment. This position will work 12 hours shifts, 6am to 6 PM, on a 2-2-3 work schedule. We work in teams to ensure safety and security.
Position Responsibility:
- Diagnose and repair electrical-related problems associated with plant control systems and process equipment.
- Provides technical support to the maintenance department while troubleshooting and performing repairs.
- Performs instrument (Flow, Density, Pressure, Level, RTD’s) calibrations and verifications, repair, and replacement if required.
- Troubleshoot and repair Fire Protection Systems throughout the facilities.
- Assist in supporting the Process Network and Building Automation System Networks throughout the facilities.
- Works with outside contractors and system integrators as directed.
- Assist in the Installation of electrical equipment and systems as requested by the Plant Electrical Supervisor.
- Install conduit and wire in a dairy manufacturing and warehouse environment as directed.
- Responsible for maintaining food safety and food quality standards and reporting any issues.
- Responsible for performing tasks following all safety and regulatory requirements including wearing appropriate PPE and following all LOTO procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / requirements:
- Minnesota Class A Journeyman Worker License
- Knowledge of PLC automation and control devices (Rockwell Automation Preferred)
- 2 years of experience working with Electrical Control Drawings and Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID).
- 2 years of experience in industrial/ commercial wiring and installations.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment; works closely with other electrical, maintenance and production staff as well as Supervisors and contractors.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers on shift to determine priorities and respond to operational changes.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to perform tasks assigned in shift.
