You may know First District Association as the big dairy processor in Litchfield, but have you ever wondered where all the dairy products we produce go? Although you will never see an FDA logo on anything in the store, our products are found in some of the most trusted brands all across the world.
What does FDA make?
First District Association is known for their quality dairy products, which are made from fresh, wholesome, milk from our dairy farmer owners. FDA collects milk from almost 580 family farms across Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin. Each day our plant processes an impressive 7.5 million pounds of milk! From this, we create a range of products including lactose powder, cheese, and whey protein concentrate (WPC). These products are then used by our customers who implement these ingredients into their own foods. Additionally, we deliver another 1 million pounds of milk each day into milk bottling facilities.
Each year, FDA produces:
- 270 million pounds of cheese
- 48 million pounds of whey protein concentrate (WPC)
- 55 million pounds of lactose

A part of the facility is a large state of the art cheese cooler, where products wait to get sent out daily.

FDA International and Domestic
Not only do we sell our products all over the U.S., but we also export products all over the world! FDA products are sold domestically to countries like China, Japan, Indonesia, etc., where they are further processed and made into dairy products you know and love!

First District Association dairy contributions are found in many food products, snacks, and drinks. Some of these include chocolates, sauces, soups, seasonings, snack foods, prepared cheeses, ready meals, infant formulas, and much more!
